2008 will be in the sign of China - not least because of the coming Olympics this year
hosted by China. The international sport event opens on the 8th of August 2008. On the
exact same date GL STRAND will open the unique exhibition China in Transition with one
of the greatest contemporary artists on the international art scene, the Chinese film and
video artist Yang Fudong.
Yang Fudong is one of China’s most striking video artists today. Yang Fudong’s
impressive epic film and photo works present themes about the individual and about
contemporary Chinese society. The exhibition in GL STRAND provides an opportunity to
direct a current gaze at China’s art and culture that reflects the rapid development of “The
Middle Kingdom” and the country’s renewed status in global society.
